What does it mean to be "messianic Jew"?

We are Jews because we are born to Jewish parents, but that's not all that makes us Jews. We believe it necessary to respect the commandments and traditions given to us by God through Moshe (Moses) and other Jewish prophets. We acknowledge all the holidays, written in the Torah, namely, the Shabbat (Sabbath), Pesach (Passover), Shavuot (Pentecost), Rosh Hashanah (New Year), Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), Sukkot (Tabernacles). We also note and holidays, recorded in Scripture, as well as the memorable dates and positions of the Jewish people.

Messianic we are because we believe that the Mashiach (Messiah) promised by God for deliverance and salvation of the people of Israel have come. His name is Yeshua mi-Nazareth (Jesus of Nazareth). We believe that every person, regardless of ethnicity, receives salvation through faith in Him. Therefore, we believe that our ministry is to carry Besora Tova (good news) of salvation to the Jewish people and tell Christians about the Jewish roots of Christianity.

Welcome to web-site of Messianic Jewish Congregation "Kehilat Yeshua" (Russia, Moscow)

Shalom Haverim!

Our congregation, “Kehilat Yeshua" which means "Congregation of Yeshua”, started in 1999 on the feast of Passover. We invited our Jewish friends and relatives who came for a concert with well-known Messianic composer Nicholas Khaskin (Minsk, Belarus).

Первый Алеф-курсAt the concert came about 200 people, most of them recived Yeshua as Messiah and we began weekly meetings for Bible study, called "Aleph-course. Then we began to gather on-Erev Shabbat. The ministry gradually grew. Now in our congregation 50 people. Together we celebrated the Jewish holidays. We help the needy not only by words but with deeds. We have a special ministry for the needy, elderly and disabled Jews.

Все что осталось после пожара офисаIn December 2000, our office had a fire that destroyed most of the office and musical equipment. Fortunately, the fire did not touch the Bible and money of congregation.

November 30, 2002 on the feast of Chanukkah, we had a big concert, which was visited by about 300 Jews.

In 2004, our congregation began a new ministry for the Jews in the South-West of Moscow. Now this congregation is an independent Messianic congregation “Beit Hallel ", led by Yuri Tereshkin.

Together with the CPM missionaries from Australia and Germany we visit the opposite side of the Russian Federation, the Far East, this year. We were greatly inspired by what we saw there. To be more precise, it was the openness of the Far East Jews toward the Gospel. The local churches of Birobidzhan, Vladivostok, Uzhno-Sahalinsk, Komsomolsk-na-Amure, Blagoveshensk and Magadan actively supported our work in reaching out the local Jews, as well as in establishing new Messianic congregations and ministries.

One of the basic needs of new messianic congregations is the lack of knowledge in ministering the Jewish people. That is why we decided to run a seminar for the new leaders of messianic ministries of Russia and the Ukraine this July in Moscow. There we are planning to hold the leaders’ training. The representatives of all Russian messianic congregations and ministries of the Far East are going to be present. They are as follows: Birobidzhan, Vladivostok, Uzhno-Sahalinsk, Komsomolsk-na-Amure, Blagoveshensk and Magadan, the Siberia (Novokuznetsk), the Urals (Perm), the South of Russia (Krasnodar, Rostov-na-Donu), the Arctic (Norilsk), the Central region of Russia (Kazan, Vyborg, Moscow) and the Ukraine (Mariupol, Poltava, Kharkov, Donetsk). We invited messianic leaders from "Beit Sar Shalom" ministry (Berlin and Dusseldorf) as well as "Celebrate Messiah" ministers, (Australia) in order to train the new leaders.

We hope this seminar will strengthen the present messianic ministries within the Russian Federation and the Ukraine; and that it will also become a goldmine for the establishing of new messianic congregations throughout the territory of the former Soviet Union.  We also believe that this seminar will be the first stage in creating a year training program for Russian leaders.

The Report on trip to Kharkov, Ukraine. Last week I visited to a Messianic Leaders' meeting, which was held in Kharkov, Ukraine. Congregational leaders from Kiev, Mariupol, Poltava, Chernigov, Khust and Kharkov were all present at thas meeting. Various questions were raised, as the attitude to Jewish tradition, interaction of congregations, messianic literature. The biggest number of messianic congregations of the former USSR is in Ukraine at present. Practically in every city and town there are messianic congregations and groups. Nevetherless, there are some problems arising, a lack of interaction and dissociation. The main target of the latest meeting  was to regulate the collaboration of the messianic congregations of Ukraine. The resolution was to hold a regular meeting of messianic leaders in May, 2009, as well as to meet at the Russian speaking conference in Jerusalem.
The Mission has got a missionary in Kharkov - Alexander Sereda. He sends you best regards and is grateful for prayers. He is well now. The congregation has recently  started classes of the messianic institute. Sereda holds regular prayers for Israel and the Jewish people in town and also for pastors of city.
